The Poem
In a quiet town where the daisies grow,
Lived a curious cat, named Whiskers, you know.
With fur soft as silk and eyes bright like stars,
He dreamed of adventures beyond his backyard.
One sunny morning, he stretched and he yawned,
“I’ll explore the wide world, of this I am fond!”
He packed up some snacks, a small fish and a treat,
And set off with joy on his little cat feet.
He wandered through gardens, he climbed up tall trees,
He chased after butterflies, danced with the breeze.
But soon he encountered a riddle so sly,
A wise old owl perched, watching him from high.
“Dear Whiskers,” he hooted, “if you wish to go far,
You must solve my riddle, beneath the bright star.
What has keys but can’t open a door?
Solve this, young cat, and you’ll learn even more.”
Whiskers thought hard, he scratched at his head,
“I know the answer!” he boldly then said.
“A piano!” he cried, with a leap and a bound,
The owl fluffed his feathers, “You’re clever, well found!”
With a wink and a nod, the owl spread his wings,
“Now off you go, to discover new things!”
Whiskers ran on, through fields lush and wide,
Excited for what lay on the other side.
He met a sweet rabbit named Daisy, so spry,
Together they hopped, under the clear sky.
They played hide and seek, and raced through the glade,
Until they found treasures, where sunlight displayed.
A sparkling stream flowed, with fish darting fast,
Whiskers and Daisy, they played here at last.
With splashes and laughter, they enjoyed the scene,
For friendship is magic, it makes life serene.
As the sun began setting, the sky turned to gold,
Whiskers felt happy, his heart it was bold.
“I’ve seen so much wonder, I’ve made a new friend,
This journey of mine will never quite end.”
So the curious cat, with a heart full of cheer,
Promised to return, to explore far and near.
For every new day brings a chance to discover,
The world is a treasure, like no other.
