What is a Hundred Chart?

Hello, class! Today, we are going to learn about something called a hundred chart. A hundred chart is a big square that has numbers from 1 to 100. It helps us see numbers and count easily!

How Does It Work?

The hundred chart is made up of 10 rows and 10 columns. Each row has 10 numbers. The first row has numbers from 1 to 10, the second row has numbers from 11 to 20, and so on, until the last row, which has numbers from 91 to 100.

Counting on the Hundred Chart

Counting on means starting from one number and moving to a higher number. For example, if you are at number 5 and you want to count on by 1, you move to number 6. If you want to count on by 2, you move to number 7.

Tips and Tricks

1. Look at the Rows: The first number in each row will be 10 more than the first number in the row above it. For example, 1 is in the first row, and 11 is directly below it in the second row.
2. Use Patterns: Notice how the numbers go up by 1 across a row and by 10 down a column.
3. Practice Counting: The more you use the hundred chart, the better you will get at counting!

• Start at number 14. If you count on by 1, you go to 15. If you count on by 5, you go to 19.
