Introduction

Hello, young learners! Today, we are going to learn how to add using cubes. Cubes are fun, colourful blocks that help us see how numbers come together. We will practise adding numbers up to 10 using these cubes.

What are Cubes?

Cubes are little blocks that can be stacked or lined up. Each cube represents the number 1. When we add cubes together, we can see how many we have in total.

For example, if you have 3 red cubes and 2 blue cubes, you can put them together to find out how many cubes you have altogether!

Example of Addition with Cubes

  1. Take 3 cubes.(You can use any colour, like red.)
  2. Take 2 more cubes.(Let’s say these are blue.)
  3. Now, put them together. How many cubes do you have now?3 (red) + 2 (blue) = 5 cubes.

So, 3 + 2 = 5!

Key Rules for Adding with Cubes

  1. Count Carefully: Always count each cube one at a time.
  2. Group Them: You can group cubes in different colours to make counting easier.
  3. Check Your Work: After you add, count again to make sure you have the right total!

Tips and Tricks

  • Use Your Fingers: If you don’t have cubes, you can use your fingers to count.
  • Draw It Out: You can draw cubes on paper to help you see the numbers.
  • Play with Friends: Adding cubes can be more fun with friends! You can work together to find answers.
